Foreword

I feel privileged to write the Foreword for the Textbook authored by Prof. S.G. Damle. In recent times, the principles and practice of Pediatric Dentistry have witnessed a change with excellent potential for improving the patient-care. This edition provides the latest information. This book is very concise and to-the-point, following a logical order and guiding the readers through various steps from prevention, clinical examination and making a diagnosis to management. The contents of the book are well structured and presented in a very lucid manner, making it easy for the reader. The chapters on Pediatric endodontic, Traumatic injuries to anterior teeth, Conscious sedation and General anesthesia, are good examples of this. The author has rightly emphasized the Preventive aspects of dental caries in children in the chapter 'Infant oral health care' and the importance of behaviour management in delivery and success of treatment in children. It strikes a perfect balance between the amount of information provided and the level of expectation of the Undergraduates and the Postgraduates.
